 An Organizations with 20 or more employees are required by law to register for the EPF scheme, while those with lesser than 20 employees can also register voluntarily under the Act.  Employees with a Basic + Dearness Allowance less than Rs.15,000 per month needs to mandatorily cover under EPF Scheme and needs to be opened an EPF account by Organisation. If an employee who is drawing a salary higher than Rs. 15,000 per month then in that scenario they termed a non-eligible employee and it is not mandatory for those employees to become a member of the EPF, although they have option to get register with the consent of organisation and approval from the Assistant PF Commissioner.
